Based on the successful podcast of the same name, Hrishikesh Hirway has been conducting intimate one-on-ones with other famous musicians since 2014.
In October 2020, Netflix brought Hirway's podcast to life, which sees him physically meeting with famous musicians and deconstructing how they brought various songs to life. And with volume two of the docuseries on the horizon, there's bound to be even more music knowledge for us to absorb.
One of the main differences between typical music journalism and Song Exploder is that at times in the show, the lens is pulled back slightly to offer the viewer more context about what the song meant for the artist. From behind-the-scenes on original studio recordings to the origins of random melodies, the docuseries pulls apart said hits to teach viewers how they came to be.
And for those looking to further their musical education, the show's second volume will feature more award-winning artists, including Dua Lipa, The Killers and Nine Inch Nails, who each take Hirway into every facet that went into their chart-topping hits.
