From the minute she emerged on stage carrying a glass of wine and a bag of McDonald’s and confessing that she had just “deep-throated French fries and hash browns’’ to combat exhausting jet lag, Drew Barrymore was the celebrity BFF we all wanted.
In town to launch her mega-successful beauty brand, Flower Beauty at Chemist Warehouse stores, Drew was also guest star at an exclusive marie claire event where she enthralled the crowd with stories of her four-decade Hollywood career, her latest role as the #girlboss of a growing empire spanning film, beauty, fashion and homewares, and the true loves of her life: her two daughters and her girlfriends.
The interview proved to be the natural starting point for marie claire’s new podcast series, Finding Fearless.
“The night was just fantastic,” said editor Nicky Briger, who hosted the intimate marie claire session with some 300 lucky attendees. “Drew was so generous with her time and gave so much of herself that she had us all begging for more. And she had so many stories about facing fears, pushing through, starting new ideas, and still staying true to herself, that we knew her wisdom needed to be shared wider. She is the poster girl for living life fearlessly!’’
The new Finding Fearless podcast series, hosted by Nicky Briger and her team of editors, will feature stories of women who have faced adversity and overcome the odds to find their true purpose in life. A new episode will be released fortnightly and will feature a mixture of well-known A-listers and inspiring women whose own personal stories of bravery need to be shared.
