She’s one of the most recognisable faces of her time, but Cameron Diaz keeps her family life relatively low key.
The actress, 52, has actually been married for nearly a decade, to none other than Benji Madden, lead guitarist of Good Charlotte and one half of the Madden Brothers band.
The couple’s family grew just a few years ago, when they welcomed an adorable daughter, Raddix, to the mix. Now, the star has announced that she’s welcomed a second child, a baby boy named Cardinal.

When Did Cameron Diaz And Benji Madden Get Married?
Cameron and Benji tied the knot in 2015, after meeting at an event in May 2014, and getting engaged less than six months later.
But despite their relatively quick nuptials, Cameron and Benji have proven to be one of the strongest couples in Hollywood, with the actress regularly gushing about their relationship to Instagram and in interviews.
Cameron appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show just a year after getting married, saying their relationship had resulted in a lot of personal growth.
“Someone asked me, ‘What’s your favourite thing about being married?’ and I said, ‘I just learned so much about myself. I didn’t know these things. I would have never known them if I didn’t have my husband to help me.”
The following year, she appeared on Gwyneth Paltrows ‘In Goop Health’ panel, sharing what made her relationship with Benji different from other romantic partners in the past.
“I think it’s a matter of I just hadn’t met my husband,” she said. “I had boyfriends before, and there’s a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends.”
She added, “I’ve never had anyone who supported me so much and gave me so much courage to be myself and to really explore myself. My husband has been able to show me what it’s like to […] be an equal. And I’ve learned so much from him. I look at him every day and he inspires me. I feel so lucky.”
Do Cameron Diaz And Benji Madden Have Children?
Cameron and Benji share two children, a daughter named Raddix and now a son, Cardinal.
Page Six reports that the couple welcomed Cardinal on March 22, 2024. It was a surprise announcement, with the couple not previously revealing that they were expecting a child.
“We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden. He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here!” they began in their joint Instagram post.
“For the kids safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures – but he’s a really cute.”
They continued: “We are feeling so blessed and grateful. Sending much love from our fam to yours. Best wishes and Good Afternoon!!”
Cardinal is their second child, with the couple revealing they has welcomed their first via surrogate in 2019.
Raddix was born on December 30, 2019, with the couple taking to Instagram to break the news. “Happy New Year from the Maddens!” they wrote. “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden. She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family.”
They also expressed a desire for Raddix to grow up out of the spotlight, something that they have stayed true to throughout her life so far.
We “also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy. So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute! Some would even say RAD,” they wrote.
Raddix, 4, is rarely spotted, with both Cameron and Benji choosing to keep her off their social media accounts. Despite their penchant for privacy, Cameron has opened up about the joys of parenting their little one.
In July 2020, when appearing on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Cameron said Raddix was “the best thing that ever happened” to her. “It’s been heaven. Literally every single day, there are just leaps and bounds … and she’s not the same baby that she was yesterday.”
