Australian presenter, model and actress, Erin McNaught, has shared a health update about her nine-month-old son, Obi Brooks Kotara, just days after it was revealed he had been diagnosed with brain cancer.

McNaught and her partner, music producer Stace Cadet, whose real name is Stasi Kotaras, shared the news with followers late last week, posting images of their son, Obi, lying on a hospital bed, accompanied by a caption that read: “For the last few weeks we have noticed a rapid decline in Obi’s behaviour and happiness. He was having problems eating, sleeping and most recently, keeping his head straight.”

“Late on Tuesday, as a precaution we took our little man in for an MRI under instruction from our doctor,” the post continued.

“At about 6.00pm Tuesday night we met with a neurosurgeon who broke the heartbreaking news that Obi has a large brain tumour on the right side of his brain.”

As can be expected, the parents revealed that they’ve been “absolutely shattered” by the news.

“Our team at the Queensland Children’s Hospital have been incredible and we remain hopeful that we can remove the mass and get Obi healthy and happy, pending the results,” the couple shared, before expressing their gratitude for the overwhelming support they’ve received amid the diagnosis.

“We have a long and difficult road ahead us but are so lucky to have our family and friends’ support at this time and we’re keeping focussed on getting our little boy back.”

Just days after the parents first shared news of Obi’s cancer diagnosis, the couple shared a health update about their son’s progress to their Instagram stories.

Along with a picture of McNaught reaching down to kiss her son’s stomach as he lay recovering from surgery, the post read: “Today Obi had the surgery to remove the tumour. The amazing team here are very happy with the way it went.”

“While it’s too early to tell much more, we are hoping this will have been his biggest hurdle,” McNaught and Kotaras added, telling followers that the family are “taking each day as it comes but oh so thankful for today.”

Obi is the youngest child of McNaught, who also shares two older children, Evander, seven, and Ennio, five, with her ex-husband, musician Example.
