Love had another spectacular victory in federal parliament today, with Liberal MP Tim Wilson proposing to his long-term partner while discussing the marriage equality bill.

At the end of his speech in the House of Representatives, Mr Wilson turned to his partner of nine years Ryan Bolger.

โ€œIn my first speech, I defined our bond by the ring that sits on both of our left hands, and that they are the answer to questions we cannot ask,โ€ the emotional MP said, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

โ€œSo thereโ€™s only one thing left to do. Ryan Patrick Bolger, will you marry me.โ€
