Nick Cummins has only just been announced as Australia’s newest Bachelor, but the rugby star is already causing controversy.
According to The Daily Telegraph, rumoured contestant Cassandra Wood knows ‘The Honey Badger’ and has potentially been romantically involved with him in the past.
The publication reports, Wood “has known him closely for at least a year and has possibly dated the rugby union star.”
One friend went as far as to confirm the pair definitely dated. “They’ve definitely been more than just friends,” they said.
The newspaper also reports that Wood was not aware that Cummins was going to be the Bachelor until production began this week.
Following the reports, Channel Ten released an official statement this morning. “Ten will neither confirm or deny speculation about the identity of rumoured Bachelorettes on this season of The Bachelor Australia, and looks forward to revealing the contestants to viewers later this year,” it read.
Last season, it was widely reported that Bachelor Matty J had met contestant Laura Bryne prior to the show.
Though the pair denied the rumours, Laura was a frontrunner from the start and ended up winning the final rose.
Given the above, we wouldn’t be surprised if Wood’s inclusion is worrying the other women a bit.
