Exclusive! Nicole Kidman At Home, In Charge And At The Top Of Her Game

The Australian film icon is back down under

Returning to Australia – and her iconic BMX Bandits curls – Nicole Kidman tells marie claire she’s grateful to be home filming her next Liane Moriarty masterpiece Nine Perfect Strangers in the idyllic Byron Bay after COVID-19 shut down production in LA. Moving the production – and her country music star husband Keith Urban and their two daughters – down under, has been a mammoth task for Kidman, who is a producer on the film. But being back on home turf, surrounded by her family and still working has been the silver lining to this unprecedented year.

“To have the opportunity to give jobs to 1400 people from July to Christmas is such a joy for me personally. We’re forging ahead when no-one’s making anything, and the world’s watching,” reveals Kidman, proudly.

Another source of pride is her upcoming HBO series The Undoing, in which Kidman plays a New York therapist who discovers her picture-perfect marriage (to Hugh Grant) isn’t what it seems when a violent death occurs. In real life and away from her troubled characters, Kidman insists her life is “very simple” and her marriage to Urban is indeed picture-perfect.

“I married into my heart. He just came along, and protected me. He’s loved me, given me confidence, and made me so much more comfortable. He knows who I am and he’s opened me up,” she says in a candid interview with editor Nicky Briger, in which Kidman also opens up about raising empowered daughters, championing her fellow female creatives and working on a Big Little Lies reunion with Reese Witherspoon.
