Milson's Point penthouse
If there's one Sydney location Nicole Kidman appears to have a real penchant for, it's Milsons Point's Latitude apartment block. Here, she currently owns five different units, which she's acquired over the course of several years under various company names.
Kidman herself hasn't owned property since 1993, when she bought a one bedroom apartment in Mosman for AU$81,000, before gifting it to her younger sister, Antonia. Her Milson's Point apartments and Southern Highlands home are all held in company names, of which the current sole director and owner (on paper) is Annette Rechner — a supporter of the UTS mental health unit Kidman Centre, established by Kidman’s late father, Professor Antony Kidman.
Per The Herald Review, the actress purchased a two-bedroom apartment in the building in 2021 for AU$2.78 million and another in 2011 for AU$2.68 million. She is also said to have consolidated two penthouses there for a combined AU$13 million.
In June 2022, it was reported that Kidman spent $1.35 million on a fifth apartment in the same block, which is rumoured to be located on level four with sweeping harbour views.
It is understood the two bedder purchased last year is being leased, while the 2011 unit is being used as her private gym.
Southern Highlands homestead
With their A-list status, it's understandable that every now and again, the couple would be keen on escaping the hustle and bustle for a quieter, country life. Enter their Southern Highlands farm, Bunya Hill — a 45-hectare black Angus cattle stud located in Sutton Forest.
The couple purchased the sprawling property for AU$6.5 million back in 2008, with the charming homestead featuring a carved cedar staircase, 10 marble fireplaces and an identifiably Australian sandstone veranda. The property was originally leased as a rural retreat for Lord Augustus Loftus, a governor of NSW in the colonial 1880s (so you know it has a history of housing important people).
The actress welcomed Vogue into the house for a 73 Questions series, where she showed off a floor-to-ceiling library and grand piano. She told the publication that her favourite thing about living on the farm is "the simplicity, the air, the peace."
The 111 acre farm also houses a small guest cottage just off the main house, open fields for the animals to roam and plenty of fruit trees, which Kidman is believed to enjoy picking.
One year after the couple wed, Kidman and Urban purchased their first home together for $2.45 million (AU$3.54 million) in 2007. The 36-acre country spread in Franklin, Tennessee was located just south of downtown Nashville, and was likely the perfect location for Urban to maintain a presence in the country music scene.
The main house featured four bedrooms and six bathrooms (two of them half) and was filled with natural light courtesy of the skylights scattered throughout. The main bedroom, likely snagged by the couple, had its own private sitting room, stone-tile bathroom with a garden tub and of course, a huge walk-in closet.
After occupying the house for just shy of ten years, the pair listed it in 2016 and found a buyer — albeit two years later — who snapped up the property for $2.7 million (AU$3.9 million), though they had originally asked for $3.45 million (AU$4.98 million).
Less than two years after purchasing their Southern Highlands hideout, the couple bagged a seven bedroom Nashville mansion for $3.47 million ($AUD 4.89 million).
Known as the Queen of Northumberland, the property features eight bathrooms, a tennis court, swimming pool, home theatre and a hobby room. Unsurprisingly, given its sheer size, this quickly became their 'primary home' and the couple still own it to this day.
Beverly Hills getaway
In the same year that they acquired the Queen of Northumberland, Urban and Kidman forked out another $4.7 million (AU$6.79 million) contemporary home in Los Angeles. Given her status as a Hollywood heavyweight and his judge role on American Idol, it made sense for them to lay down roots in the celebrity-filled neighbourhood.
The home, which boasted five bedrooms, five bathrooms (one half), a wraparound deck, covered patio areas and a pool, was made for warm LA days spent outside, and likely reminded them of home back in Australia.
The couple appear to still own this property.
West Chelsea pad
In 2010, Urban and Kidman acquired a very stylish pad in New York City's West Chelsea neighbourhood. Known for being stylish and sophisticated, the location seemed like a perfect fit for their stints in the Big Apple. Located in 200 Eleventh building (which has been said to attract multiple A-list buyers) the lobby is so stylised that a sign had to be erected which said: "This is a residence. Please do not enter."
Dropping a cool $10 million (AU$14. 43 million), the apartment offered floor-to-ceiling windows which allowed sunlight to stream through, a freestanding bathtub, enviable views of the midtown skyline and a futuristic car park elevator which would take you up to the 10th floor, still inside the vehicle.
As of 2020, the couple were still reported as owning this property.
In 2020, per The New York Post, the couple paid around $3.5 million (AU$5 million) for a two bedroom apartment 108 Leonard St, New York. It's worth noting that the purchase was made during the early days of the pandemic, with Urban rumoured to have a reignited interest in real estate as a result.
While images of the couples specific unit are unavailable, Architectural Digest discovered that other units in the building featured oversized windows (a feature the couple are fond of), modern kitchens and high ceilings.
General building amenities include a 23 metre indoor lap pool, rooftop gardens, firepits, huge fitness centre, and even a wine cellar with its own private dining room. The unit also boasted three separate entrances which is what was rumoured to have won the couple over, offering an element of privacy that other apartments likely couldn't.
