Speaking with American radio journalist, Terry Gross, the actress explained how her time spent indoors acted as a catalyst for her acting career.

The Oscar-winner would go on to have her on-screen breakthrough in the 1989 film, Dead Calm, when she was 20-years old. She then gained international recognition from the 1990 flick, Days of Thunder.
