Australian model Nicole Trunfio admits that although she breastfed her son Zion in public, and even appeared on the cover of a magazine while breastfeeding, her husband Gary Clarke Jr. originally struggled with it.
“In Australia we breastfeed anywhere and everywhere, we are very open about it and there is no judgment,” Nicole began, while speaking at the Mammas Making It event over the weekend.
“I’m married to a Texan and it is a very different world,” she continued, as reported by the The Daily Telegraph.
“Even my husband would get very uncomfortable with me breastfeeding in public. For me it was very challenging.”
The 31-year-old, who married her musician beau in April 2016, has long been an advocate for women feeling comfortable breastfeeding publically.
“There’s nothing worse than, as a mother, doing something that’s so necessary like feeding your child and feeling like somebody could have an opinion about it or somebody’s looking at you the wrong way,” she said while on Good Morning America in 2015.
