The 2021 Oscars are mere days away, and as one of the biggest events of the year, the ceremony is predicted to be an unmissable night filled with our favourite stars—of course, bringing with them some unrivalled fashion, hilarious moments and award-winning performances along for the ride.
The 93rd Annual Academy Awards will be taking place on Monday, April 26, and with the decision to put on an actual red carpet this year amid the pandemic, we're guessing some of the world's biggest names will be pulling out all the stops for the occasion.
This year's Oscars are history-making too, with two women nominated in the Best Director category—making it the first time two women have appeared in the category in the same year. Chloé Zhao who is nominated for her work on Nomadland and Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman, both of whom were also recognised at the Golden Globes back, alongside Regina King for One Night in Miami.
It wasn't only Zhao and Fennell who made history, Viola Davis and Steven Yeun also broke records. Thanks to Davis' nomination for Best Actress in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, the actress is now the award show's most-nominated Black actress of all time and became the only Black woman with two best actress nominations.
The Oscars, as always, will be available to watch live and for free on Channel 7.
