If you’re currently dealing with a Phoebe Waller-Bridge hole in your life after binge-watching seasons one and two of Emmy-nominated show Fleabag, this will be music to your ears. The British writer, producer and actress, who is currently writing the new James Bond film (the second woman in history to get a writing credit on the franchise), just announced she’s making a new movie.
In a cover story for The Hollywood Reporter, the creator of Killing Eve revealed that she came up for the idea for the film the night she wrapped Fleabag‘s final season. “The day I wrapped Fleabag, I went to bed thinking, ‘I’m never going to have another idea again. Oh shit.’ I woke up with the vision of this film,” she said, revealing that she’s not taking the project to market until it’s finished and that she wants it to have a theatrical release, instead of going straight to a streaming platform such as Netflix.

The 34-year-old also said that she’s not planning on starring in the movie, but quickly caveated that by saying with a laugh, “I blatantly will end up in it.” Though she’s managed to not yet star in the first two seasons of Killing Eve, Waller-Bridge is reportedly writing herself into the third instalment just to be killed by the show’s assassin, Villanelle.
Fleabag’s second season has been nominated for 11 Emmy awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series and a Lead Actress nod for Waller-Bridge, who not only wrote the show but stars in it as the main character, a woman navigating her mid-thirties in London known only by the name Fleabag.

As well as her secret movie project, Waller-Bridge is also working on an HBO series called Run with her business partner and Fleabag co-creator, Vicky Jones. While we patiently (or not so) wait for the release of all of the above, Waller-Bridge’s first show, Crashing, is available on Netflix and while it’s not as good as Fleabag, it’s still hilarious and well worth watching (as is anything PWB touches).
