Pink Just Opened Up About Her Recent Health Battles Describing ‘Excruciating Pain’

And had some scathing words for the haters

Following her recent hospitalisation with a gastric virus that forced her to cancel a number of Sydney show’s this week, Pink has taken to Instagram to let fans know she is on the mend and will be back on stage on Saturday.

“First, I want to say thank you to all of the kind people out there for your well wishes for my speedy recovery. On Monday, we were absolutely planning on going ahead with the show, and about 20 minutes before I left for soundcheck, I was rushed to the hospital, in excruciating pain,” she captioned a picture of the Sydney Opera House.

“That was the reason for the late cancellation. It was out of anyone’s control, and of course, wasn’t planned that way,” she continued.

“I was discharged from hospital last night, and am following doctors orders of liquids and rest.”

She then went on to explain why because of the physical nature of her shows, forging on was not an option.

“A lot of you know how physical my shows are, and that I don’t just stand in front a microphone and sing. I flip, dance, fly, harness, silk, and scream my way through a total shit show of awesomeness (no pun intended). Therefore, I need to be physically healthy and well in order to perform this show. I think all of you deserve the full show and me at my best.”

Her next show is planned for Saturday and rescheduled dates for the cancelled concerts will be announced shortly.

“Until then I will be drinking green tea, and spending time with my kids,” she added, before launching into a warning to anyone who sees her out and about.

“That’s a warning to paparazzi, you might actually see me walking upright outside of my hotel room cage with two little children, and another warning: I might even smile. Not too much, though. I’ll try to control the smiling.”

Earlier in the week, Live Nation issued a statement confirming the singer would not be able to perform on medical advice.

“On medical advice P!NK’s performance scheduled for tonight (Tuesday, August 7) at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena has been postponed,” they wrote on Twitter.

The Beautiful Trauma singer cancelled last night’s show just hours before the doors were scheduled to open for the sold-out show.

“Pink was admitted to hospital in Sydney on Sunday night, suffering from dehydration,” Live Nation, the producer of Pink’s Beautiful Trauma World tour, tweeted of the singer. “She was treated and discharged. She was readmitted to hospital today and diagnosed with a gastric virus. Pink will remain in hospital overnight, continuing her treatment and recovery.”

Over the weekend, Pink was forced to defend herself after articles surfaced online saying she was relaxing on the beach in Byron Bay after cancelling her Sydney show due to illness

The mother-of-two took to Instagram in a lengthy post, explaining that the photos don’t show the two doctor’s visits and all the medication she is currently on.

“I’ve already been sick twice (kids as well) on this Australian tour, but the first time we got sick, I was able to push through,” the singer wrote.

“What these parasite paparazzi don’t show you, is two doctor visits in Byron on two consecutive days, antibiotics, steroids, Vick’s, nose spray, throat spray, more steroids, NyQuil, a screaming baby in the middle of the night, every night, while mama gives him warm baths and tells her daughter everything is fine,” she continued.

“I have never phoned in a single tour, I have an impeccable record for not cancelling. I mother with everything I have whilst handling all the rest.”

Fans quickly jumped to Pink’s defence, with one fan writing: “Your real, true fans know exactly what kind of person you are and to cancel would’ve been a hard but necessary thing to do”

“You should not even have to defend yourself. Everyone knows you have been fighting illness and you have two young children. All of your true fans understand!” another commented.

Justin Timberlake, who has performed with Pink twice, also left a message of support: “As a parent on tour as well, and an artist who LOVES their fans just as much and wants to give them an unprecedented experience… AND is currently battling an injury, a sinus infection, and trying to be the DAD I want to be too?? I say HATS OFF to you, my friend. I don’t know how Mums/Artists like you exist.”
