Pizza Is A Healthier Breakfast Option Than Cereal, According To A Dietician

We'll just leave this here...

Anyone who has eaten cold pizza the morning after a messy night can attest to the fact that it just tastes better the next day but is it doing your insides any favours?

According to Chelsey Amer, a dietician and food blogger, pizza for brekkie is better for you than a bowl of cereal.

Amer told The Evening Standard, “you may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories.”

And the good news keeps coming because, “pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning.”

Another fact to consider is that most breakfast cereals are packed with sugars and contain less fibre than say, a veggie supreme which is topped with vegetables.

Fellow dietician Priya Tew agrees that opting for a vegetarian topping can make a difference to the overall health benefits. “If you have a pizza that is heavily laden with cheese and pepperoni than that’s not a good decision but if it has lots of vegetables then it could be a good option.”

Next time you wake-up foggy and eye last night’s pizza box thinking, ‘a bowl of coco pops or a nice slice of veggie supreme, what’ll it be?’

Remember pizza, every time.
