There’s A ‘Pride & Prejudice’ Dating Show On The Way That’s Like ‘Bridgerton’ Meets ‘The Bachelorette’

Find the Simon to your Daphne

There’s no denying that post-Bridgertonthe need for a suitor à la Simon Basset was at an all-time high. And while nabbing the Duke of Hastings for yourself is off the cards, finding love in a 19th century style is not.

In a new series, aptly titled Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment In Romance, singles have the opportunity to enjoy Regency-style romantic rendezvous through elaborate courtships and an array of public displays of affection to make Jane Austen proud.

Essentially The Bachelorette with bonnets, the series allows modern day romantics to find their own special someone, in the same way as Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet. According to Deadline, the series—AKA social experiment—will transport a woman looking for her very own duke into a Regency era England, where she will encounter a group of potential suitors whom she may fall most ardently in love with.

Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment In Romance will take place in a castle on the countryside, with each couple courting one another through archery, carriage and boat rides and can only communicate through handwritten letters.

By the end of the series, the leading lady will choose which eligible fella has, in the words of Mr. Darcy himself, “bewitched me body and soul”.

At the moment, there’s no premiere date for the show. Production is yet to begin, however, production company Endemol Shine has stated that shooting is “tentatively scheduled for August 23–October 8.”

So, if dating apps have left you sick of swiping left, then perhaps vying for one’s heart (and their court) amidst a loved-up carriage ride is your cup of tea. If so, keep an eye out for any upcoming information on Pride & Prejudice: An Experiment In Romance.

In the meantime, there’s always The Bachelor Australia. And the best part is, it’s a much shorter wait.
