The Special Meaning Behind Prince Harry And Meghan Markle’s First Dance Song

They chose an 80s classic

As we continue to dissect every morsel of the royal wedding over the weekend – we now know the song that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose as their first dance – and we wouldn’t have picked it!

During their private evening reception, where 200 of the couple’s nearest and dearest were able to let their hair down without the eyes of the world watching, the royal couple treated their guests to quite the party.

While Elton John may have had the royal crowd dancing during the day reception, the evening affair kicked things up a notch and saw guests dancing into the night.

For their first dance as husband and wife, the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose the Whitney Houston classic ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’, according to The Telegraph

While the song is a classic choice for newlyweds, it seems the song had an extra special meaning for the royal bride.

In an interview in 2016, Meghan described the song as her “happy song”.

The dance floor reportedly went off during the lavish affair, with guests getting down to a number of 80s hits as well as some 60s R&B classics – actor Idris Elba also reportedly took to the decks and played DJ at one point.
