Prince Harry has announced his first project since his exit from the royal family, and in true style, it’s an initiative that supports a cause near and dear to his heart. HeadFIT for Life is an online platform that offers a variety of tools to “help defence people stay mentally fit and on top of their game…at work and at home.”

The space will provide U.K. military personnel with 24/7 access to mental healthcare and advice and is supported by the Ministry of Defence and by The Royal Foundation’s Heads Together initiative.
“Today, when we talk about fitness, we don’t just mean how fast you can run or how much weight you can carry,” Harry said in a video shared to the organisation’s website.
“This is about mental fitness, strength and resilience—not just while wearing the uniform but for the rest of your life. If you want to be truly fit, strong and healthy, you need to train your mind and body as one. Some people run, others swim, cycle or lift weights in order to be physically fit, but what do you do to stay mentally fit? Think about what you could do to unlock your potential and to perform at the highest level.”
HeadFIT for Life was first announced by the Duke of Sussex in October 2017 and has since been developed in association with the U.K. Ministry of Defence (MoD) and leading mental health experts at Kings College London.
“HeadFIT has been almost three years in the making, and I am extremely grateful for everyone who has been on this journey with us,” Prince Harry continued. “Everyone who has worked on it, to create what we have today, should be incredibly proud and excited for the impact it will have.”
The initiative should come as no surprise, considering Prince Harry spent 10 years serving in the British Army. Since then, he has continued to connect with veterans to discuss the importance of mental health, in addition to launching the Invictus Games in 2014, which harnesses the “power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect for those who serve their country.”
