Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Reportedly Starting Their Own TV And Film Production Company

The new venture comes after the launch of their Spotify podcast

Since they stepped away from their royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have wasted no time diving in their next career-driven ventures.

Having launched their charity called Archewell, appropriately named after their one-year-old son Archie, the couple have even recently released their own podcast on Spotify, Archewell Audio.

This time, however, the Sussexes are said to be launching the third instalment of the Archewell trilogy with their own TV and film production company, Archewell Productions.

Looking to create more movies, comedies and dramas, the couple have reportedly filed paperwork with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office in late 2020 to trademark the name: ‘Archewell Productions’.

Their request includes plans to make “motion picture films, television series and videos”, according to reports.

The news comes after the pair signed a lucrative, multi-year deal with streaming giant Netflix, back in September 2020.

According to The New York Times, the Sussexes’ deal is said to involve the creation of documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.

“Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope,” the couple said in a statement. “As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us.”

Additionally, they revealed that Netflix’s “unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action”.

“We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-chief executive and chief content officer, has reportedly stated.

Working with streaming services isn’t new to Meghan, as she has previously collaborated with Disney and Apple on projects already, with reports from Variety stating that the couple met with NBCUniversal.
