This Is Where Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Will Live After They’re Married

It has 21 bedrooms

They’re currently living in Nottingham Cottage, Kensington Palace, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are treating themselves to a royal upgrade once the wedding is out of the way: they’re moving into a modest (ahem) 21-bedroom apartment.

What apartment could possibly squeeze in 21 bedrooms, we hear you ask? Dear reader, this is no ordinary apartment.

Within the grounds of Kensington Palace, ‘Apartment 1’ once belonged to the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Harper’s Bazaar UK reports, who got kicked out moved out last year, we presume after Prince Harry and Meghan announced their engagement. The newlyweds have had it spruced up in preparation for their arrival, with extensive renovations commencing last November.

“I think it is unlikely they would move to some random house elsewhere in London because the cost of security would be an additional burden on the taxpayer and a recipe for bad publicity,” royal expert Penny Junor speculated to House Beautiful UK, adding that apartment one suits due to its proximity to Prince William and Kate Middleton and their family.

The couple is also expected to be given a country estate from the Queen as their wedding present – most likely York Cottage in Sandringham. Steeped in history, the property once belonged to Queen Elizabeth’s parents, King George V and Queen Mary. It’s also close to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s country retreat, Anmer Hall.
