One week before the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, one of the best movies of 2018 was released: Meghan & Harry: A Royal Romance. The film, created by Lifetime, documented the unlikely romance between Markle, an American actress, and Harry, a Prince of England, including, but not limited to, arguments in Meghan’s childhood bedroom, a Botswana-set love scene and, best of all, Princess Diana reincarnated as a lion.
Despite being ridiculously cringey and over the top, the Lifetime movie gave all royal fans a glimpse into the royal’s lives – similar to The Crown, but this time totally made up. It even included Harry proposing in Nottingham Cottage while Meghan cooked roast chicken:
The sequel, titled Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal, will see two new actors transform into the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, taking over from Murray Fraser and Parisa Fitz-Henley, who did a standout job in the first film, if you ask me. The new Megs and Haz have been confirmed as Charlie Field and Tiffany Marie Smith.
The movie will continue the story of Harry and Meghan’s royal romance and will be focused on their first year of marriage and the “untold joys and challenges of life inside the royal family during their pivotal first year of marriage.”
Meghan and Harry’s “core values are put to the test as they try to find the balance between honouring royal tradition and staying true to their beliefs.”
Filming has commenced in Vancouver and the film is set for release in autumn.
