Grab The Tissues, Prince William and Kate Middleton Share Sweet Letters Their Children Wrote to “Granny Diana”

"Papa is missing you"

Aside from her heirloom jewellery and precious engagement rings, it looks like the royal family are finding other ways to pay homage to the late Princess Diana.

Most recently, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis chose to honour their grandmother for Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom in the sweetest way, and apparently, their dedication has become quite a tradition among the royal family.

According to a new Instagram post from Kensington Royal, every year George, Charlotte, and Louis make cards for their “Granny”, Princess Diana, and gift them to their father, Prince William and his brother Prince Harry, who lost their mother in 1997.

“This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again,” the caption reads. “But for those experiencing bereavement, today may be particularly challenging.”

“Each year on Mother’s Day, George, Charlotte and Louis make cards remembering their Granny, Diana, for William,” the post continued. “Whatever your circumstances, we are thinking of you this Mother’s Day.”

“Dear Granny Diana, Happy Happy mothers day,” seven-year-old Prince George wrote in his letter, alongside a drawing of a landscape. “I love you very much and think of you always. Sending you lots of love.”

Meanwhile, five-year-old Princess Charlotte decorated a heart and wrote, “I am thinking of you on Mother’s Day. I love you very much. Papa is missing you. Lots of love.” While two-year-old Prince Louis wrote his name and decorated his own heart with an array of insect stickers.

Naturally, the young royals also paid homage to their own mother, Kate Middleton, thanking her with a sweet treat.

“Celebrating two other special mothers today ❤️,” read the Instagram caption. “🎂 made by George, Charlotte and Louis.”

In a separate Instagram post, the Cambridge family shared a photo of a cake baked by George, Charlotte, and Louis, served on a heart-shaped plate and decorated with colourful pipe cleaners. And on the second image was a touching throwback photo of the Duchess with her own mother, Carole Middleton.

The heartfelt tributes to the family’s matriarchs comes after Kate Middleton was spotted at the tribute for Sarah Everard, who was kidnapped and murdered in London while walking home on the night of March 3.

Visiting a memorial service at London’s Clapham Common, the Duchess attended the socially distanced event mask-free and laid a bouquet of yellow daffodils, taken from the gardens of Kensington Palace, and laid them at the site.

According to royal sources, the Duchess of Cambridge “remembers what it felt like to walk around London at night before she got married.”
