When the announcement came about Harry and Meghan’s decision to split their time between the U.K. and North America and become financially independent, Prince William took it pretty hard (and to heart).
“They didn’t leave on good terms by any means, but they are both relieved that it’s over,” a family friend told People.
Since then, however, the brothers have been talking more and had a heart-to-heart before Harry returned to Canada last month, which has helped mend the relationship.
“Perhaps [Meghan and Harry] didn’t think things through exactly as they could have, but they wanted to be happy,” added the friend.
Now that the initial shock has worn off and the details on their new arrangement have begun to be hashed out, Meghan and Harry are enjoying their new life.
“This decision [to leave] had been weighing on them for a long time, and they are relieved to have it done,” the insider told People. “A weight has been lifted off their shoulders.”
Harry and Meghan are currently staying in a $14 million mansion on Vancouver Island in Canada. “They both love to be outside and have been loving it there,” said the source.
“They are enjoying living a quiet life. They go for long walks, they do yoga, and Meghan cooks. They are real homebodies who love to chill out with Archie and the dogs.”
