This Is What Prince William Said To Kate Middleton’s Father Once He Walked Her Down The Aisle

Prince William has a sense of humour

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that royals are actually just normal people. Normal enough, once you take away the palaces, travel, wealth and royal weddings. And now we know for sure that Prince William also sees the strangeness in the whole royal wedding ritual, making the best possible joke to Kate Middleton’s father when he reached the end of the aisle.

According to author Marcia Moody and her new book, Kate: An Autobiography, Prince William showed off his sense of humour while at the altar during his and Kate’s royal wedding in 2011.

Apparently, once Catherine and her father, Michael Middleton, reached the end of the aisle, Prince William joked “Just a quiet family wedding, then.” Cue, applause.

Although his audio wasn’t picked up by the estimated 26 million people who were watching (intimate), the look on the soon-to-be Duchess of Cambridge’s face in photos during the moment definitely confirm the prince was telling a rather funny joke.

Kate Middleton at her royal wedding in 2011

Prince William and Kate Middleton were married at Westminster Abbey in May of 2011, a full eight years ago and seven before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor. With guests including the entire royal family, the likes of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, attended, making the wedding one of most-watched events in history. The royal pair have since welcomed three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and, most recently, Prince Louis

Now, all we want is for funnyman Prince William to go on Ellen DeGeneres or Jimmy Fallon— is that so much to ask?
