Princess Beatrice Borrowed Her Wedding Dress And Tiara From Queen Elizabeth II

Something old, something new, something borrowed!

While many of us had assumed the ongoing global pandemic had meant we wouldn’t see a Royal Wedding anytime soon, Princess Beatrice proved us all wrong. The British royal quietly wed Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in a private ceremony on July 17 and like other royal weddings, Beatrice dipped into the archives for the occasion.

In photos released by the Royal Family, Beatrice and Edoardo are seen exiting the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge in Windsor. “The small ceremony was attended by The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, and close family. The wedding took place in accordance with all relevant Government Guidelines,” Buckingham Palace shared in a statement.

The royal opted for a short-sleeved gown, a vintage design from Norman Hartnell, that originally belonged to her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

She paired the dress with a mid-length veil and the Queen Mary diamond fringe tiara, which the Queen wore to her own wedding to Prince Philip in 1947.

“The Queen saved this grand tiara specifically for Beatrice. It was always reserved for her as they are exceptionally close,” a source told People, adding that the tiara is “arguably the most sentimental [piece] lent from the Queen yet.”
