The year’s second major royal wedding will take place on Friday, between Princess Eugenie and her wine merchant beau Jack Brooksbank. But, unlike Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s headline-making nuptials, this will be the first royal wedding that’s completely plastic-free.

Speaking to British Vogue in a joint interview with her sister, Princess Beatrice, the bride-to-be revealed that the environment is an issue she’s passionate about.
“My whole house is anti-plastic now,” she explained. “Jack and I want our wedding to be like that as well.”
In addition to her role as associate director at contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth, the 28-year-old royal is an ambassador for Project O, a not-for-profit that aims to “restore and protect the ocean”.
As Yahoo7 notes, it’s a cause her grandmother, the Queen, also values: Buckingham Palace has recently banned the use of plastic straws and bottles from all royal estates and is taking “a number of practical steps to cut back on the use of plastics” according to a spokesperson.
But back to the wedding. “I’m not stressed at all,” Princess Eugenie told British Vogue. “It’s nerve-wracking because you want it to be perfect, but then you realise that you’re going to be with the person you love forever and nothing else really matters.”
