Princess Eugenie shared the same picture to her own Instagram with a trio of blue hearts, hinting that she gave birth to a boy. And while the pair are yet to reveal a name, they did confirm that their little bundle of joy weighed in at 8lbs 1oz (3.6kg).
The couple first announced they were expecting their first child in September 2020, with the exciting news confirmed by the Palace.
"Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021," read the official statement.
"The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news."
Princess Eugenie, one of the few modern royals with her own Instagram account, followed up the birth announcement with an Instagram post of her own, showing her and husband Jack clutching a little pair of teddy bear booties.
"Jack and I are so excited for early 2021..." she captioned the sweet post.
Ahead of the arrival of their first child, royal fans predicted that the couple would break a longstanding royal tradition.
As Hello! reported, royal christenings are typically private family affairs, with photos released after the event. But, Eugenie was baptised by parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson at a public church service—reportedly the first royal baby to be christened in public—and she might opt to follow suit with her own child.
Both the Cambridges and the Sussexes opted to hold private services for their children.
