Princess Margaret’s Grandson Gives ‘The Crown’ The Royal Seal Of Approval

According to recent figures, a grand total of 73 million households worldwide have royally binged The Crown since the Netflix series first graced our screens back in 2016.

In a revelation sure to see creator Peter Morgan quaking in the writer’s seat, one of these dedicated viewers is actually a member of the Windsor clan.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Princess Margaret’s grandson, Arthur Chatto, became the latest member of the royal family to admit that he has seen the award-winning series.  

“Yes, I have watched it,” the 20-year-old revealed. “I guess it’s only an interpretation. So I just kind of remember what they’re actually like and don’t let the TV persona mar my judgment of any of them.”

Chatto is the son of Princess Margaret’s daughter, Lady Sarah Chatto, and is 26th in line to the throne.

Despite sitting well behind Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince George in the running for the crown, he famously attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s big day.

Princess Margaret passed away in 2002, so The Crown sure to prove interesting viewing for her grandson with his family history being played out on the small screen.

In season three, Helena Bonham Carter stepped into the shoes of Margaret – a role previously held by Vanessa Kirby.

The third installment of the series saw the late royal reign the script once more, as she navigated the highs and lows of married life.

Following her whirlwind romance with divorcé Peter Townsend, Princess Margaret wed photographer Anthony Armstrong-Jones but their romance ended 12 years later amid scandal and infidelity on both sides.

Although Chatto isn’t the only royal fascinated by his family’s past, as Princess Eugenie is also the proud owner of a Netflix account.

“It is filmed beautifully,” she said. “The music is wonderful, the story is beautiful. You feel very proud to watch it. I can’t speak for everyone, but that’s how I felt when I watched it.”
