Why Harry And Meghan Won’t Be At Priyanka Chopra And Nick Jonas’ Wedding

Despite Chopra attending the royal wedding in May

When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wed in London in May, the star-studded guest list included David and Victoria Beckham, George and Amal Clooney, the cast of Suits and Markle’s good friend, Priyanka Chopra.

Chopra attended both the ceremony at St George’s Chapel and the private reception at Frogmore House, which only close friends of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were invited to.

A few months later, Chopra became a bride-to-be herself, getting engaged to musician Nick Jonas. The pair wasted no time in planning their wedding, which is set to take place in Chopra’s home country of India this weekend

Despite reports that Chopra has introduced Jonas to the royal couple and that the foursome has been on multiple double dates, it’s not looking likely that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will attend the upcoming nuptials.

According to reports, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be staying in England due to Meghan’s pregnancy and security concerns. “Meghan will not be going to Priyanka’s wedding, especially now that she is pregnant,” Us Weekly reports.

Meghan also wasn’t in attendance at friend Serena Williams’ wedding to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian last November, likely due to the date falling too close to the day the palace announced Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

Jonas has also given an interview wherein he reveals how he proposed to Chopra. In the Vogue piece, Jonas says the first time he met Chopra he got down on one knee. “I put my drink down, got on one knee—this is in front of a bunch of people—and I say, ‘You’re real. Where have you been all my life?’ Like, loud,” he said.

A year and a half later, Jonas shut down a Tiffany & Co. store and waited until Chopra’s birthday night to propose for real. “I got down on one knee, again, and I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me? No joke—she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence.” Chopra was speechless. He continued, “I’m going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections.”

Clearly, as the old saying goes, when you know you know.
