Buckingham Palace Shares Photograph Of Queen's Christmas Speech

But royal fans were quick to spot something amiss from the tradition - by Danielle Fowler

Christmas has came early for royal fans across the globe, as Buckingham Palace released a photograph of the Queen delivering her 2019 festive broadcast earlier today.

In the official portrait, Her Majesty is pictured sitting behind her desk in Windsor Castle's Green Drawing Room with a Christmas tree providing the perfect seasonal backdrop.

For the yearly portrait, the Queen dressed in a suitably regal blue dress by go-to designer Angela Kelly with a string of pearls and sapphire brooch, originally gifted to Queen Victoria by husband Prince Albert, to finish.

Merry Christmas! This year The Queen's Speech was filmed in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle. It will be broadcast on Christmas Day at 3pm GMT. This year also marked the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and in The Queen's Christmas Speech Her Majesty will reflect on the commemorations. "For the Seventy-Fifth Anniversary of that decisive battle, in a true spirit of reconciliation, those who had formerly been sworn enemies came together in friendly commemorations either side of the Channel, putting past differences behind them. . "By being willing to put past differences behind us and move forward together, we honour the freedom and democracy once won for us at so great a cost." Watch The Queen's Christmas broadcast on TV, radio and online here tomorrow at 3pm GMT.

As per previous years, the Queen also ensured that she had framed family portraits on display.

This festive season, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's leaked Christmas card photograph is proudly on display alongside a photograph of her late father, King George VI, delivering his own Christmas radio broadcast back in 1944.

A portrait of husband the Duke of Edinburgh also bagged a spot with a snap of Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall beside it.

But royal enthusiasts were quick to note that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are absent from the collection despite their debut Christmas photograph as a family-of-three doing the social media rounds.

Four generations of The Royal Family have come together to support The Royal British Legion's 'Together at Christmas' initiative. The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince George, joined forces to prepare special Royal British Legion Christmas puddings at Buckingham Palace this week. The Queen is Patron of The Royal British Legion and the puddings will become the centerpieces of next year's "Together at Christmas" get-togethers, hosted by the charity. It is widely reported that Prince George will play a leading role in the Queen's Christmas broadcast this year, as a videographer was on hand to film the family baking and confirmed that the footage will be played during the 2019 speech.
So try not to nod off before Her Majesty graces the small screen, as the future King of England is sure to give an adorable cameo.
