The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the monumental decision to step back from their senior roles as members of the royal family at the turn of 2020. Despite endless amounts of speculation from royal experts and fans alike about what Queen Elizabeth really thinks of their decision, people are now convinced that she may have just shown her support for the couple in the sweetest way.
Over the weekend, the queen made a public appearance for the morning service at Sandringham, where she was snapped wearing a Canadian snowflake brooch – gifted to her by then-Governor General David Johnson on behalf of the people of Canada in 2017.
Why is this brooch so significant, you may ask? The fashionable choice has been interpreted as a subtle nod to Meghan and Harry’s possible decision to move to Canada after they expressed their desire to split their time between the U.K and North America.
Though the decision of where the couple and their son, Archie Harrison, will live hasn’t been officially announced, it’s been theorised that Los Angeles and Canada are at the top of their list. No surprise really, considering Meghan grew up in L.A, where her mother, Doria Ragland, still lives and the ex-actress spent many years living in Canada while filming hit show, Suits.
The Commonwealth country certainly holds a very special place in the duke and duchess’s heart. The couple made their official public debut at the Invictus Games in Toronto in 2017, as well as having just spent the holiday season with baby Archie in an incredible mansion on Vancouver Island.
