Rami Malek has proven even Oscar-winning actors can take falls, tumbling off the Academy Awards stage after receiving his Oscar for Best Actor.
Taking a fall off the stage, Malek looked surprised and was helped to his feet by those in nearby chairs. However, the actor wasn’t out of the clear just yet, with the on-site paramedics being called in to escort him behind-the-scenes.
Malek was reportedly moved off stage by the paramedics, who were treating him for injuries — the extent of which are not known at this stage.
Malek was backstage with the paramedics that he missed the famed photo opportunity with fellow Oscar winners, which included Olivia Colman, Mahershala Ali and Regina King, who won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor and Actress, respectively. However, he seemed to make a speedy recovering and was then ushered in to complete the photos.
Malek’s trip came just moments after he declared his love to girlfriend Lucy Boynton on-stage while accepting his award, presented to him for his role on Bohemian Rhapsody, which picked up a slew of awards throughout the night.
We’re not yet sure the extent of Malek’s injuries, but we’ll update this as we find out.
