If you’ve been craving an addictive psychological thriller, Netflix has you covered. The streaming service announced it’s bringing Daphne du Maurier’s gothic novel, Rebecca, to the big screen.
The 1938 novel follows the second Mrs. de Winter, whose first name we never know, as she begins her life with her new husband Maximillian. But their marriage can’t escape the “ghost” of de Winter’s first wife, Rebecca, who died under mysterious circumstances.
Lily James, known for her parts in Downton Abbey and Mamma Mia!, will play the second Mrs. de Winter, while Armie Hammer will take on the role of her husband, Maxim de Winter.

Also joining the cast are Keeley Hawes, Ann Dowd, Kristin Scott Thomas, Sam Riley, and Ben Crompton, while Ben Wheatley has signed on to direct the upcoming mystery.
It’s also not the first time the iconic book is being adapted for the big screen. The most well-known adaptation of Rebecca, starring Sir Laurence Olivia and Joan Fontaine, was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, which went on to win two Oscars in 1941, including Best Picture.
