There’s been many dresses that have gone viral on the internet. May we never forget the dress posted to Facebook circa 2016 that looked blue to some and gold to others. But there is a new dress on the playing field that is garnering attention for a much different reason—it has been worn and favourited by multiple celebrities.
Plus, it’s by an Australian designer, so naturally, we’re intrigued.
The iconic cut out dress is called the ‘Kate Bow Mini Dress’, by Rebecca Vallance. It’s a classic mini LBD with a twist, featuring a split down the neckline that is attached on either side with bows. It also features oversized sleeves that give it a broad shoulder and nice structure.
We first saw the dress on ‘Bet I Made You Look’ singer Meghan Trainor, who wore Vallance’s dress for the filming of cult show Australian Idol. She was performing on the program and chose the dress as her outfit for the on stage rendition of her hit song.
Trainor paired the look with an extra bow, attached to a high pigtail updo and some cute little black boots.
However, it’s not just Meghan who is a fan of the LBD.
The dress was worn by none other than Paris Hilton, during a recent signing for her new book Paris: The Memoir. The DJ and now author looked regal in the look, posing pen in hand with her classic straight blow out in the dress.
If you thought we were done with the Hollywood love on this number, well, we’re not.
Vallance’s dress also was a hit with British actress, Kate Beckinsale, who rocked the bow-dress beautifully.
One Tree Hill alum, Sophia Bush was also seen out in the little number. It’s clear this dress is a must have for the A-listers, and thus, also for us.
Vallance is elated at attention her design is receiving, telling news.com.au, “The style has been so incredibly popular this season, we have even made a hot pink version, the Cecily Mini Dress, to accommodate the customer demand.”
“As we continue to expand globally, we’re seeing huge growth in the US market—celebrity placements are key as consumers love being able to immediately shop outfits they see on their favourite star.”
Vallance admits she thinks part of the charm is that it is an inspired recreation of the ‘little black dress’.
“It is a timeless wardrobe stable that you can wear season to season, and it never dates,” she told news.com.au.
“There are so many styling opportunities when it comes to the Katie Bow Mini, my favourite way to style the dress back is with a classic black heel.”
