Rebel Wilson Has Spoken Candidly About Her Weight Loss & The Health Journey That Led To It

The actor says small changes can really help.

Rebel Wilson lost 27kg in 2020, but her goal wasn’t weight loss. Instead, the Australian actor publically announced way back in January on Instagram that 2020 would be her “Year Of Health”. Now, a year later, she says she wishes she kickstarted her health journey sooner.

Rebel spoke to Instyle about her health year, which she wanted to commit to after struggling with emotional eating and mental health issues. According to the actor, it wasn’t all the expensive gym equipment or fancy classes that saw her make progress, but the simple things.

“Obviously, I have access to some amazing high-tech treatments, but what I learned is it’s really the little things that I do every day that make a difference,” she told the publication.

“Like today, I went for a walk at Griffith Park [in L.A.] and that’s free. Anyone can go on walks and drink more water and do little, consistent things that’ll improve their lives. It’s not too late to start, no matter what age you are.”

Rebel told Instyle that looking back, she sometimes wishes she’d started a decade sooner.

“Now that I know I can do it, sometimes I feel sad that I didn’t do it earlier. Maybe I should have tried when I was 30, not 40. But everybody’s journey is different, and it’s not a race or competition.”

Not that it hasn’t been hard work. She spoke candidly about the persistence she had to have to keep going.

“…every morning I was up in the gym at the hotel working out for 90 minutes before a full day of filming. But that’s just my life now,” she said.

It’s always refreshing to hear celebrities acknowledge the hard work that goes into their health plans, and it’s equally refreshing to know that Rebel committed to a balanced fitness and health outlook – the actor recently shared a picture captioned “Mentally preparing for the week ahead today…and eating waffles.”

Same, Rebel. Same.
