Reese Witherspoon Hosted A Virtual ‘Legally Blonde’ Reunion And Suddenly, It’s 2001 Again

What? Like, it's hard?

Since it first hit cinemas 19 years ago, Legally Blonde has been a cultural phenomenon. From the timeless style moments to its iconic one-liners, the film continues to be relevant in 2020.

Proven further by Reese Witherspoon, who has brought Elle Woods back to life—and for a good cause.

Aiding the World Central Kitchen organisation, Witherspoon made the announcement via her Instagram, teasing the reunion of the film’s most famous stars.

Sharing the news with her followers on October 19, Witherspoon captioned the announcement post: “Don’t you want to see if Elle & Warner finally make up?”.

Hosted by Saturday Night Live‘s Chloe Fineman, Witherspoon was joined by Luke Wilson, who portrayed her law professor boyfriend and later-husband Emmett, Selma Blair as her enemy-turned-BFF Vivian, Jennifer Coolidge as the loveable Paulette, Holland Taylor (Professor Stromwell), Jessica Cauffiel (Margot), Alanna Ubach (Serena), Ali Larter (Brooke) and of course, Matthew Davis as Elle’s ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III.

Legally Blonde was first released in cinemas in 2001, and was followed by a sequel in 2003, where Elle Woods takes on Washington D.C. to introduce a bill banning cosmetic testing on animals.

Rumours surrounding a third Legally Blonde film have been in the works for the past few years, with the film said to catch up with Elle and her friends two decades later. And earlier in 2020, Mindy Kaling was confirmed as a writer for the highly-anticipated film.

The virtual reunion is currently being broadcasted on Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine’s YouTube channel on October 21, or you can check it out below.
