If you’d asked us mere minutes ago if there was such a thing as the ‘perfect’ red lipstick, we’d have insisted there isn’t. But nothing beats a recommendation like a Reese Witherspoon recommendation, and her red lipstick one is somewhat genius.
Just like her book club gems and green smoothie recipe, the actress has played an ace in sharing the very red lipstick worn not only by herself but also daughter, Ava Phillipe, and mother, Betty Witherspoon, in a shoot for Vogue U.S..
The red lipstick in question isn’t a traditional bullet, but the pocket-sized palette known as Westman Atelier Lip Suede ($136 at MECCA). Check and mate.
So yes, although it certainly helps that all three generations of Witherspoon women have the same skin tone and hair colour to call this one a favourite, it also helps that it’s actually four varying shades of fuschia, brick, tomato red and warm dusty rose.
The result is not only one seriously beautiful-looking compact, but the versatility of being able to pick and choose between the shades, or mix them together to create a custom red.
And considering it’ll replace all the reds in your collection, the splurge in price is easily justified.
