Renee Zellweger’s New Beau Ant Anstead Made A Rare (And Sweet!) Comment About Their Relationship

The pair began dating earlier this year.

Renee Zelwegger and Ant Anstead were first romantically linked in June this year—and already, we’re falling for the sweet new celebrity couple.

According to PEOPLEthe pair met on the set of Ant’s new Disney+ show, Celebrity IOU: Joyride. Now in convenient timing for us, the show has just premiered, with the 42-year-old co-host making several sweet comments about his new beau.

On the show, Ant and his co-host Cristy Lee restored two automobiles with Zelwegger, and in the intro to the scene which aired on Monday, Anstead jokingly revealed he “didn’t know” the actress wasn’t British.

“Did you know that during the filming of Bridget Jones’s Diary, Renee spoke with a British accent even when she wasn’t on set?” Christy Lee told Ant, who is British himself.

Feigning surprise, he replied: “Are you telling me that Bridget Jones—Renee Zellweger—isn’t British?” and then added: “You’re like a dream crusher for me.”

British or not, Ant and Renee have certainly appeared to hit it off, with a source telling PEOPLE last month: “Renee is creative… and often goes for guys who think out of the box. She’s smart, thoughtful and always looking to expand horizons and nurture those around her.”

They added: “Sometimes two people just meet and click, and the timing is right.”

The pair stepped out publicly while attending a gala event in Santa Ana, California earlier this month.

Ant has a two-year-old son whom he shares with ex-wife Christina Haack. The pair were married for just under two years.

Zellweger has plenty of British A-listers to call friends, including her iconic Bridget Jones co-star Hugh Grant

Last year, the actor said he’d remained close with the 52-year-old Texan: “I love Renee,” he said.

“She’s one of the few actresses I haven’t fallen out with. And, we, we got on very well together and, we still exchange long emails.”
