Rihanna is more than doing her bit for promoting inclusivity. When she launched Fenty Beauty, she did so with a foundation range that boasted 40 shades. Unheard of at the time, she’s made it the norm for new foundations to hit shelves with no fewer than 30 shades and women around the world couldn’t be more thankful to the singer, fashion designer and beauty mogul for making it happen.
When Rihanna revealed her 2018 Fenty x Savage lingerie collection at New York Fashion Week last year, she made history again. Her show was a celebration of diversity, inclusivity and women’s bodies of all shapes and sizes.
Naturally, her latest Fenty x Savage collection, which showed at NYFW two weeks ago, lived up to everything we loved about last year’s message. But then it raised the bar to a whole new level.
The 50-minute-long show was like a mini concert with epic performances from the likes of Normani, DJ Khaled, Halsey and Rihanna herself and it featured the best choreography we think we’ve ever seen.
But the celebs were outshone by the real showstopper: the models that showcased *EVERY* type of woman, from former Victoria’s Secret Angels Bella Hadid and Cara Delevingne to plus-size and transgender models, POC, and even women with disabilities. All dressed in lingerie that was made *for* women.
“Every woman deserves to feel sexy. We are sexy, we are multi-faceted and I want women to embrace that to the fullest,” Rihanna says in her Amazon Original video that premiered last night and is available exclusively to Amazon Prime members.
“I’m looking for unique characteristics in people that aren’t usually highlighted in the world of fashion as it pertains to lingerie and sexy, or what society sees as sexy.”
The video includes the entire show, along with backstage access, not dissimilar to the iconic Victoria’s Secret show. Only Rihanna’s show has the Internet saying, ‘Victoria who?!’ They were lapping up every second on what Rihanna put together:
