In September it was reported that American model Elsie Hewitt is suing Ryan Phillippe, her ex-boyfriend, to the tune of $US 1 million after he allegedly physically assaulted her in his home, punching and kicking her and throwing her down a flight of stairs.
But now Phillippe, 43, is fighting back, with plans to sue 21-year-old Hewitt for trying to extort money and gain fame from her lawsuit against him.
People has obtained court documents pertaining to Phillippe’s lawsuit, in which he claims Hewitt “fabricated a story in an unjustified attempt to extort money” and “broke into Phillippe’s home in the middle of the night without permission.”
Hewitt was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre after the alleged incident in July, where police noted "visible injuries to her legs, back, arms, shoulder and face", USA Today reports.
Police granted the model a temporary emergency restraining order against Phillippe, though the actor wasn't arrested and no charges were filed against him.
Philippe’s suit also states that the actor “was raised by women in a household where women’s rights, feminism, and advocacy were very much at the forefront, and he is sickened to have been falsely accused of domestic violence.”
