And it seems that our favourite A-listers aren’t immune to the effects a good SATC binge-watch can provide.
In a new interview, certified style star Anya Taylor-Joy revealed that while during a “horrible breakup” she went straight to the source and sought dating advice from the one and only Sarah Jessica Parker.
That’s right, chess-prodigy Beth Harmon asked Carrie Bradshaw to help improve her love life.
If we were to suspend all disbelief for a moment, a cross over between And Just Like That and The Queen’s Gambit is something we’d watch in a heartbeat—can’t you just picture Carrie in her tulle Oscar De La Renta tutu learning the Sicilian defence in Washington Square Park?
Speaking to British Vogue, Taylor-Joy revealed that whenever she was “down and out about love” she’d watch episodes of Sex and the City. So, when she had the opportunity to meet SJP she of course had to pick her brain for how to get out of her post-break up slump.
Taylor-Joy said “I remember when I met Sarah Jessica Parker, I was going through a horrible break-up, and I went up to her and I was like, ‘I need you to know that I’m watching you and Big and it’s giving me hope.’ And she was like, ‘That things will work out?’ and I said, ‘No! That this will end and I will finally move on!’ She was like, ‘Oh, shit. Sorry.’”
While the conversation may have not been as fruitful as Anya expected, it certainly is relatable. We wonder what answer she would’ve got if she had asked the same question to Kim Cattrall?
But Taylor-Joy’s love life isn’t all doom and gloom. In fact, the One Night In Soho star is happily taken, dating part-muso-part-actor Malcolm McRae.
As for whether Anya and Malcolm’s relationship will follow the same trajectory as Big and Carrie’s? Well, only time will tell.
