The Best Accessory At The 2021 Golden Globes? Sarah Paulson’s Custom Prada Cast, Of Course

It's all in the details ✨

From Sarah Jessica Parker’s Manolos to Kate Middleton’s engagement ring, there are some accessories so chic and memorable that they quickly capture national attention, and we’re adding Sarah Paulson’s 2021 Golden Globes custom Prada cast to the very top of that list.

The actress, who was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama TV series for her role in Ratched, wore a custom, off-the-shoulder, black Prada gown for the occasion, that featured beaded crystal flower embellishments and was complemented by a custom purple Prada cast adorned with the fashion house’s signature triangular logo plaque. Paulson finished off her award ceremony ensemble with Harry Winston jewels and a pair of Prada nylon gabardine slingback pumps. Basically despite the injury, the actress looked like red carpet perfection.

When you’re Lady Paulson, you get a custom Prada cast to go with your custom Prada dress 💜”, Paulson’s stylist Karla Welch wrote.

But what exactly warranted the custom accessory? Vogue reports that the injury took place while the actress was filming the new season of American Crime Story—American Crime Story: Impeachment—in which she plays Linda Tripp. It’s unclear exactly what happened, but Paulson told Deadline that the role is “totally challenging in a way that is very exciting to me as an actor, but it’s not super easy to live inside of it as a human being.”

For her role in Ratched, Paulson took on the series’ titular character Mildred Ratched and told Deadline“The most important thing for me to do was to honor Louise Fletcher [the actress who played Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in 1975] by taking her fundamental characteristic which was her stillness. If I can start there, then I can at least, have this spine of her right in the way. It was sort of borrow from the greats. I think Louise Fletcher did this so brilliantly, it’s very brave to be still and to be quiet and to let the audience come through in a way.”
