Following the announcement of Selena Gomez’s split with The Weeknd and multiple sightings together, you guessed it: Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are back together.
The on-and-off couple, who last called it quits in 2014, have officially rekindled their romance, Us Weekly reports.
“Selena and Justin are back together,” a source told the site. “Selena and The Weeknd just fizzled and ended amicably – it wasn’t dramatic and it wasn’t about Justin. But Selena always had feelings for Justin.”
“Her friends want her to be cautious because she has been in such a good place post-surgery,” they noted.
Gomez and Bieber were first spotted together at the end of October when Bieber visited the singer’s LA home. At the time Gomez was still dating her boyfriend of 10 months, The Weeknd.
The exes were then pictured getting breakfast together before church and again, later that day, at Bieber’s home.
News broke of Gomez and The Weeknd’s split and it was quickly followed up with photos of her and Bieber riding bikes and walking down the street arm-in-arm.
Last night, Gomez watched Bieber’s hockey game, before exiting the stadium wearing his jersey.
It’s safe to say, these two have a history warranting Gomez’s friends’ worry.
The pair ended their on-off relationship in 2014, after around three years together. They first met in 2009, after their mums set them up on a date (yes, really), but the relationship wasn’t made official until 2011 when they attended Vanity Fair’s Oscar’s Party together.
The then-teenagers were each other’s first loves – official when Bieber was just 17 and Gomez 19.
“I moved in with my girlfriend when I was 18. Started my own life with her. It was a marriage kind of thing,” Bieber later told Complex. “We were so in love. Nothing else mattered,” he continued.
Their relationship was a classic teenage romance filled with breakups and posted-then-deleted social media blasts. They were each linked to other high-profile celebrities, with a slew of cheating rumours plaguing them (read: Bieber) for years.
Eventually, they called things off for good – or so we thought – at the end of 2014, but things stayed messy throughout 2015 and until as recently as August of last year.
In August 2016, Bieber went public with then-girlfriend Sofia Richie and Gomez commented on an Instagram photo of the pair, revealing for the first time that Bieber had cheated on her “multiple times”.
She swiftly cancelled her world tour and checked herself into rehab, citing anxiety and depression as the reason, where she went without her phone for 90 days.
Bieber reacted by deleting his Instagram account for six months.
The pair then had no public contact until a few months ago when Bieber reportedly heard of Gomez’s kidney transplant and got in touch with her.
Here’s hoping the pair work this time around because we won’t be able to forgive Bieber if he breaks Gomez’s heart again.
