If there’s one person from the Selling Sunset universe that we wish nothing but happiness for, it’s Chrishell Stause.
Fans of the show will remember the second half of season three saw Chrishell discover that her then-husband Justin Hartley had filed for divorce out of nowhere, leaving the real estate agent heartbroken.
And now, in the recently released fourth season of the show, the former soap star has opened up about how it felt to see Justin remarry so soon after their split.
Sitting at a restaurant with friends and fellow Oppenheim Group agents Heather Rae Young and Mary Fitzgerald, Heather asks her if she was aware that her ex-husband had recently tied the knot with his former Young and The Restless costar Sofia Pernas.
“I feel like the world heard that,” she said. “My ex-husband Justin is remarried to someone I know from back in the day, pretty well, and a lot of things made sense after finding that out.
“I wish them the best. You know, I think that it actually, if anything, it felt good to know that. It felt like a little bit of closure.
“Honestly, I’ve never been in a better place in my career. I really feel empowered of being a different, a better version of myself than I ever have been, and I feel like I found my voice, and I feel like there’s no anger left there because now I realise that’s not something I wanted for myself. I mean, if he wants to have 50 wives, like, go live your best life because I really feel like I am.
“Once you know something wasn’t right, whether it was your decision or not, it’s like, now… Out with the old, in with the new.”
Chrishell and Justin were married in 2017 after four years of dating. By November 2019, she was “blindsided” by his sudden divorce filing, since he hadn’t even discussed the decision with her prior. She immediately moved out of their home and into a hotel, before she settled in a new home in the Hollywood Hills. Interestingly, Justin and Sofia were rumoured to have started dating as soon as June 2020 and were wed by May 2021, after less than a year together.
Back in 2020, Chrishell opened up about why it felt “painful” to hear that Justin had moved on so soon after their divorce.
“I feel like anybody would be heartbroken to see how quickly or easily you are replaced; of course that’s going to sting,” she told People. “I’m excited to get back out there. I’m a hopeless romantic, so I think it can still happen.”
But as it turns out, Chrishell has also found love after marriage. In July, Chrishell announced that she was dating her Selling Sunset costar and boss Jason Oppenheim.
“I became best friends with someone platonically before it started to become romantic, so I just think that over time we both were surprised by it,” she told Bustle.
Making their romance Instagram official while on vacation in Italy, the pair looked smitten as they cuddled on boats and by the sea shore.
After witnessing Chrishell’s heart break onscreen (and simultaneously crying with her), there’s nothing we love more than seeing her happy.
