If you count yourself as a fan of Gone Girl, Big Little Lies, Amy Adams or all three, there’s a new show that should definitely be on your radar.
HBO has ordered eight episodes of TV drama Sharp Objects, based on the best-selling first novel from Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn.
The chilling series follows crime reporter Camille Preaker (Adams) who returns to her hometown after a stint in a psychiatric hospital. There, she begins investigating the murder of two pre-teen girls—and identifies with the case a little too closely.
In true Gillian Flynn fashion, you can expect gruesome crime, a compelling female lead and plenty of twists and turns.
Sharp Objects will be directed by Big Little Lie genius Jean-Marc Vallée, and written by UnREAL’s Marti Noxon and Flynn.
“I’m really excited – I think it’s going to be a great piece of television programming and I think it’s going to be a much better series than it would have been a movie,” executive producer Jason Blum told Digital Spy.
“The scripts are super compelling – it’s programming that you have to keep watching.”
