Summer romances seem to be getting the better of Hollywood at the moment with not one, but two confirmed new couples popping up over the past few days. First, Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid got cosy in London after weeks of dating rumours and now, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have gone public with their relationship.
While the musical duo, who recently released the song ‘Señorita’ together, haven’t officially confirmed anything in words, in this case, actions definitely speak louder.
Over the weekend, 22-year-old Camila attended 20-year-old Shawn’s concerts on both Friday and Saturday, posting Instagram Stories calling the singer ‘amazing’. In the early hours of Sunday morning, the pair were spotted snuggling in a restaurant booth by a fan:
Later on Sunday, the lovebirds popped out to get brunch while holding hands and cuddling. “They couldn’t keep their hands off each other,” an onlooker told E! News. “They went to brunch for about an hour and a half then went to a spa in West Hollywood. They both kept playing around, dancing and joking with each other.”
Camila and Shawn first met when they worked together while opening for Austin Mahone on his Live On tour – at the time, Camila was still a member of Fifth Harmony and Shawn was primarily known for his viral Vine videos. When fans started speculating they were dating in 2015, Shawn responded with a joke: “We can’t do that!” he told E! News in September 2015. “I mean, Spanish and Canadian don’t really mix.”
Camila recently ended her relationship with British relationship coach Matthew Hussey after dating for a year and a half. At the time, a source told The Sun that “Camila’s relationship with Matthew had run its course, and they decided to break up. It was a mutual decision to end things.”
They also added that the split would result in eyebrows being raised around Shawn and Camila’s relationship: “This is of course going to fuel rumours that she and Shawn have become more than just pals though.” That and the non-stop PDA, we’d say.
