Wife’s ‘Dummy-Proof’ Shopping List Goes Viral

The diagrams are amazing

If your significant other ever comes back from the supermarket with a trolley load of non-essential items, or misses something vital on a shopping list entirely, here’s a story for you.

In India, Era Golwalkar has made a “dummy-proof” shopping list to help her husband with their weekly shop and avoid arguments, which has since gone viral on social media.

The 29-year-old IT specialist’s list is very specific, not only detailing what sized vegetables to buy, but exactly what shape and weight. There are diagrams too.

Era told the BBC she created the hilarious list to help overcome “solve a weekly problem.”

“After Gaurav and I got married three years ago we decided to split the household chores,” she explained. “But there was one problem. I wasn’t aware of back then – he had no experience with anything related to cooking.”

“When I first sent him to purchase vegetables, it was an epic fail and an argument ensued between us. The second time was no better. Nor was the third.”

She said had also become fed up of looking at photographs of produce her husband would send her via Whatsapp.

Era realised that while many men and women might not need a “husband-proof” list, “mine did, so we found a solution”.

After sharing it on Twitter, the 29-year-old’s list has received thousands of likes and retweets.

“Looking at the reactions on social media. I’ve noticed that most married women globally are able to relate to this,” Era commented. “Even kids can relate to when their mothers tell them to go and get something from the market and gives similar instructions.”
