As far as I’m concerned, when it comes to winter, getting dressed starts—and ends—with the coat. As one of the single biggest impact items, choosing the right coat (or coats) to add to your wardrobe shouldn’t be underestimated.
The Best Winter Coats, According To marie claire:
- Best Wool Coat: Cable Evans Wool Coat, $699
- Best Trench Coat: Camilla And Marc Evans Trench Coat, $900
- Best Statement Coat: Rixo Jacoba Jacquard Coat, $880
- Best Blazer Coat: Ella Blazer Coat, $199.95
After all, there comes a point on the coldest days, when getting dressed becomes less about what’s underneath and entirely about what sits on top. I like to think of it as strategic minimalism. Fewer layers, better coat.

But what styles are on my radar this season? Longer silhouettes, and exaggerated point of views like oversized funnel necks and unique details like buttons, belts and embellishment.

Texture is also big on the agenda. Plush shearling, high-gloss leather, animal print and brocades that border on heirloom are everywhere. Colour follows a similar logic. Neutrals remain—camel, black, and rich chocolate. Alongside them, saturated tones are gaining ground: royal purple, and oxblood.
