Instagram can tell us a lot of things, like what foods everyone is eating for breakfast (avocado on toast), which travel destinations are most popular this year (Amalfi, always) and which fashion trends we need to get onto, stat. But it’s hard to quantify which outfits and specific pieces are really, truly being bought by the rest of the world. There’s only so much you learn from a like, after all.
Luckily, Instagram shopping platform, LikeToKnowIt, has revealed the one item everyone is wearing right now, releasing data on the top-bought piece from January — and we doubt you’ll be surprised.
As per Glamour, the platform has seen a 66 per cent increase in searches for spaghetti strap slip dresses this month, right in time for Valentine’s Day.
The 90s-esque style has been a staple for the street style set for the past few seasons, with It girls reaching for their slip dresses no matter the season, styling with a jumper underneath or with sneakers to make it work in winter. Perfect with a pair of on-trend strappy sandals, a silky satin slip dress is the ideal date night outfit, and works from day to night thanks to its versatile nature.
Whether you opt for a flowing midi version or something a little saucier in a mini, the slip cut is definitely having a comeback — and we’re fans. Below, we’ve rounded up six of our favourites, so you too can be prepared for Valentine’s Day (and beyond!).
