This Woman Stole Her Sister’s Baby Name… Twice

First in, best dressed?

As someone who holds an unreasonable fear that my future babies’ names will be taken by friends, family or colleagues long before I fall pregnant, I feel for Ms McCormick. The poor woman has taken to an online parenting forum to reveal that her sister has stolen not one, but two of her baby names.

Weirder still: Ms McCormick has already had her two children.

“I have two sons: Hayden and Oliver,” she explains on Mumsnet, as reported by The Sun. “DSis [that’s parenting forum speak for Darling Sister] had a daughter after I had Hayden and named her Hayden.”

“I didn’t care too much as she was a girl and mine was a boy,” she adds. Ed’s note: doesn’t that make it worse?

But the saga continues: “My Oliver is two months and she is in the third trimester of her pregnancy and has announced he’s an Oliver,” McCormick writes. “She says I was fortunate enough to fall pregnant first and took her name… I had no idea if she was thinking of those names or not.”

Fellow Mumsnet forum dwellers were quick to weigh in. “Is she some kind of sociopath?” one asked. “Is she normally all white single female with you?” questioned another.

We’re trying to see both sides: on the one hand, if the sister has long had her heart set on the two names, then why shouldn’t she use them to name her children – no matter how many people she knows have already got in first?

On the other – you don’t give your own kids the same names as your sister’s kids. Just think of how confusing family gatherings would get.
