You know how certain movies will always be perfect for certain occasions; Mean Girls for a sleepover, Notting Hill for Sunday afternoons, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before for when you just want to smile. You know the ones.
Now, Netflix has revealed the first trailer for what will no doubt become the break-up movie of the year, Someone Great — and it really does look like something great indeed.
Starring Gina Rodriguez, Brittany Snow and DeWanda Wise as three best friends, the story follows Rodriguez’s character Jenny as she deals with the break up of a nine year relationship.
Featuring everything from cry-until-you’re-hiccuping scenes that will really pull on the heartstrings to uplifting and entirely funny moments with the three best friends, the comedy-cum-chick flick will satisfy everyone, including those who are getting over a break-up.
“It’s really about a sisterhood and how much love and support is there. It’s [that friendship that ultimately gives] Gina’s character the strength to feel okay with choosing herself,” writer and director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson told Refinery 29 of the plot, which sees Jenny make the decision to leave her boyfriend due to a job offer on the other side of the country.
Complete with a crew that includes Bridemaids’ Paul Feig, the film is definitely a comedy, despite all the feel-good — and the trailer is proof enough that we’re going to be hooked on this once it lands on Netflix.
Someone Great will start streaming on Netflix on April 19.
